Labor Day with Family

The view from our deck. We were so blessed!

This year, after much discussion, my aunt rented a beach house at Emerald Isle for my dad's side of the family spend time at the beach together. The rental is for a week but various family members plan to pop in and out all week. We went from Saturday until Tuesday afternoon...just a few hours ago!  For a full 24 hours, the entirety of my dad's side of the family (minus Dad...) was there. That list includes:

Me, Dan & Abs
Aunt Cat
Uncle Harvey & Kathy
Uncle Dean
Walter & Melissa (his girlfriend)
Sylvia (very very close family friend who is basically family)

11 people. WOW!
With Daddy after a quick swim the afternoon we arrived!

Uncle Dean sharing his knee board with Abigail.

It was so nice to spend time with my family on the beach. To relax, read, have so many people around we love and care about and vice versa. Abigail got to be a part of so many traditions Walter and I enjoyed on family beach trips as kids, including: swimming with aunts and uncles who would never let you get hurt (although she got rolled in a couple waves!!), waking up at the crack of dawn begging to get in "the big pool" (the ocean), family dinners, loud evenings on the deck, showering off outside, homemade peach ice cream, and that sticky salty humidity you can't escape. Just to name a few. She enjoyed a few of Dan's traditions too including icee pops whenever she wanted and catching sand fiddlers and crabs on the beach at night.
Ready to go again on Day 2.

We were in salty heaven!! Didn't want to leave today and I cried when we got out of the driveway to leave! We are so SO thankful for being able to visit for the short time we did and hope we can make it a full week next year! Will add more photos later!

The sand was so fun for Abs!
